This has been illustrated several times in recent months. Not everyone likes superhero films, especially those of Marvel, especially in the world of cinema. Even in France, Vincent Cassel had thus contributed to this particularly sterile debate . But that doesn't stop the genre from continuing to be particularly prolific, both in cinema and on the series side. Beyond Marvel and DC Comics, we also find iterations of the genre in Indonesia with Gundala , on the HBO Max side and of course at Amazon Prime Video with The Boys , the series of the moment. But, obviously, even among the followers, the criticisms are still numerous.
The Boys and the Myth of the Savior
This is Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys and co-series creator who opened up on the subject in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. After specifying in particular that he loved going to see Marvel films at the cinema and often judges them to be very well done and particularly well written, he still has a very big criticism to make.
But at - beyond saturation, it draws a link between Marvel, the myth of the savior and Donald Trump.
From this point of view, he also considers The Boys a real "fix", allowing to restore balance. On a more personal level, we also worry about dealing with a real overdose. Between an already loaded program and the offsets, we could well be super-saturated.
